Thinking about buying a new wristwatch? Here is what you need to know

They can be analog or digital, restrained or colorful, sophisticated, or basic. Wristwatches come in endless colors, sizes, shapes, and technologies. So how do you choose the right watch for you? What characteristics should you pay attention to? How will you know if the wristwatch you purchased gives you a fair return on investment? In this article, we will try to answer some of the questions.

Before you start thinking about the type of brand you would like to check out, you need to figure out some basic details with yourself. What kind of style of the watch would you like to have? Is modern style more appealing to you than classic? Do you prefer a wristwatch with a mechanical mechanism or quarts mechanism? In order the answer all of these questions you have to “dig” a little and know what are the different options out there.

So first of all, define for yourself the preferred type of strap: metal like silver wristwatches and gold wristwatches or you might prefer leather or plastic material. The watch strap is on our wrist for long hours. Therefore, if you are sensitive to this or that substance, disqualify it immediately.

Once we have defined the type of display and the material from which the strap is made, we can ask ourselves what is the amount we are interested in spending on the new wristwatch. The prices range, as is well known, from a few hundred USD to a few thousand of USD and it is important before you invest in a watch that you position yourself on this axis, according to your desires and options.

The wristwatch should also suit your personal style. If you are interested in a sophisticated look, try to choose a watch that is designed in a thin and elegant line. If you are into rock’n’roll, a thick leather strap will complete your look, and if you are interested in transmitting stability, a silver analog watch, made by our well-known brand – Pierre Richardson, will help you do that. Once you have made the principled decisions, you can move on to choosing a specific watch.

Mechanical mechanism Vs. Quarts mechanism

  1. Mechanical watch – A mechanical watch is an accessory that can measure time using only gears, levers, and springs while taking advantage of the laws of classical physics to do so. The quartz clock (or battery) we are all familiar with, in contrast, utilizes an electric current that passes through a tiny crystal of quartz and an electronic circuit and measures the number of times the latter vibrates, at a frequency of 32,768 Hz.

The mechanical clock, on the other hand, is a much more complex machine, and in order to understand it we will divide the mechanism into its main components. It is important to remember that most of the mechanisms of the watches are very small, the average is about 26 mm in diameter and the average thickness can be between 4 and 6 mm.

All the movement of the watch starts with the traction spring, just like the spring that there is in toy cars, the ones that pull backwards and then release. The traction spring on the watch is also stretched and seeks to empty at once. The spring resides inside a drum that is like a small, flat box of tuna. This box of tuna has small teeth located in the perimeter, and it connects to a row of three gears. These wheels are located in a chain one after the other and are called a Drivetrain. The function of the wheel sequence is to serve as a kind of rope that connects the traction drum to the watch’s mechanism. At the same time these wheels are connected to a central bearing (in the center of the mechanism) on which the dials we see are mounted.

  1. Quarts watch – The quartz mechanism is characterized by high-quality watches, with the technology being modern and developed in recent years (the 1970s). This mechanism consists of quartz crystals that send constant and extremely accurate currents, with the energy source being through batteries. The same current passes through a pulse motor that converts the electrical energy into mechanical energy and accurately activates the clock hands to the second level.

A watch is much more than an accessory that indicates the time, it is a fashionable item, which indicates quite a bit about the style and character of the wearer and adds an interesting layer to the personal style.

Whether you’re looking for a women’s watch or a men’s watch, you should know that the market offers a huge selection of brands and models. Beyond personal taste – it is important to choose the right website or store from which to purchase the watch to make sure that you get an appropriate, authentic, and worthy return on this financial investment.

Here at Pierre Richardson we offer a variety of wristwatches in all shapes, colors, and styles. If you are looking to purchase a watch for yourself or for someone close to you, we would be more than happy to assist you.
